Students at a public school in the USA used Ocean as part of an inter-department Black History Month deep dive into the life and work of Jean Micheal Basquiat.

Ocean was used to explore Basquiat's musical output - students created music inspired by Gray, a band created by JMB and Michael Holman. Neither were trained musicians, so using Ocean's library of found sounds and stretching non-musical sounds to create beats that sat under more melodic loops gave the students a great introduction to experimental music, sampling and mixing.

The output was a gallery display which featured students paintings, along with QR codes which scanned through to their musical creations made on Ocean.

Aswat Al Raseef, meaning 'Sounds Of The Sidewalk' was a series of workshops in 2022 celebrating the vibrant culture and diversity of Amman resulting from the city's geopolitical importance as a destination for refugees and migrants from Syria, Palestine, Lebanon, Sudan, Somalia, Yemen, Egypt, Nigeria and across the MENA region.

Young people in Amman applied to attend a series of media-making workshops, which culminated in all 12 participants writing, recording and editing a radio show of their own.

We took to the lively streets of Amman, the adjacent skate-park and other locations around Jordan to record a series of sounds, from taxi radio to skateboards and created a Sound Pack remixable for free on Ocean.

We delivered Introduction to Music Making workshops which explored sampling and sequencing, remixing classic drum breaks, making ambient beatless soundscapes. Participants used Ocean to create jingles, sound-bed and backing music for their shows
